Daniella Barbarito 

     Daniella Barbarito es una artista visual de Caracas, Venezuela.

Su trabajo está fuertemente impulsado por la curiosidad hacia la relación entre el cuerpo humano, como el medio primitivo por excelencia, y lo Otro, como lo opuesto al Sí mismo. Los fenómenos derivados de esa interdependencia, crean una rica estética en la que preguntas sobre género, androginia y feminidad son esenciales, así como las posibilidades plásticas y poéticas que se encuentran en los límites de la interacción simbólica con los espacios.

En la rama documental de su trabajo, se enfoca principalmente en desarrollar el concepto de Lo Real Maravilloso, un término oxímoron acuñado por Alejo Carpentier que ilustra cómo la naturaleza florida y extraña de América Latina irrumpe en el día a día y, cómo la inmensa herencia del sincretismo se manifiesta en maravillas cotidianas.

     Daniella Barbarito is a visual artist from Caracas, Venezuela.

Her work is strongly driven by the curiosity towards the relationship between the human body, as the one primitive medium, and the Other, as the opposite of Self. The phenomena derived from that interdependence, creates a rich aesthetic in which questions about gender, androgyny and femininity are essential, as well as the plastic and poetic possibilities found in the limits of the symbolic interaction with spaces.

In the documentary branch of her work, she's mainly focused on developing the concept of Lo Real Maravilloso (The Marvelous Real), an oxymoron term coined by Alejo Carpentier that illustrates how Latin America's florid and bizarre nature bursts into the quotidian and, the immense cultural inheritance from syncretism manifests in everyday wonders.
